Three years ago, a group of farmworker families were tired of being exploited by Sakuma Bros. Farms in Skagit County, WA. They formed an independent union and democratically elected officers. They have attempted to engage Sakuma in serious negotiations but have consistently been met with malevolence unseen since the the thirties.
This has resulted in ongoing boycotts of Sakuma, Driscoll Berries, and strawberry-flavored Häagen-Dazs ice cream. (www.boycottsakuma berries.com)
